Finals

Hello Everyone,

Evereything seems to be coming to an end. Today we took our final test and Friday our final paper will be due, and we will be forced to say goodbye to new friends and college life until the end of our senior year.

Young Scholars Program was a great experience and I enjoyed every second of it. From the optional activities on campus to the new found responsibilities in the classroom. Ysp has given me a new outlook on college and I look forward to a bigger and better experience when I actually go to college in the fall of 2011.

So here is to a goodbye to Journalism150, Professor Banisky, and new friends that I have met along the way!

  1. Around this date next year, I'll be getting ready to go to my "real" college. I agree that this program has given us invaluable insight into the world of college life, from the food, to the people, to how loud it is in a dorm when you're trying to go to sleep.

Unless we all go to UMD, which is highly unlikely, we probably won't see much of each other ever again. I've enjoyed class with you all, and I'm glad that we've been able to work hard and become better journalists.

    Now write those papers!

  2. We've had a great class and I have learned so much about both journalism and college life.
    It was a phenomenal experience.

Good luck to you all on your college searches and thank you Professor Banisky for all of your guidance.

  3. As my grandmother would say,'It ain't ova til it's ova!" Let's enjoy these last two days with each other and hope Mr. Fenton comes in to speak with us. I've really had a lot of fun here as well and I will truly miss all of you.

Keep working these last two days and have fun!

  4. I learned so much over the past three weeks in this class. It was refreshing to sit in a class that I actually chose—not some impossible science class! Professor Banisky brought us a wealth of experience which helped us get a feel for what life as a journalist is really like. Aside from the class itself, YSP gave us all a taste of what life is really like here at UMD and was an amazing experience.

I don’t know about everyone else, but UMD is somewhere I could definitely see myself living for college. With the gorgeous new journalism facility (Knight Hall) and the highly-regarded staff, the Philip Merrill College of Journalism is where I dream to start my journalism career.

Anyone else hoping to attend UMD?
