Justin Fenton

Hi Everyone!

I thought it was really neat to hear Justin speak today. He has a very interesting job and is a great writer.

Somebody asked him if he ever got scared during his job and he said that he did not really. I know that I would definitely be scared covering crime stories.

What do you all think? If you were in a position like Justin, covering breaking crime stories, would you be nervous? Also, what were your general reactions to Justin's presentations?

Tell me what you think.

  1. He also said he subconciously gets scared now after that incident with the guy with the hammer. He said he writes stories about people getting killed for less. Now thats pretty scary

  3. I agree, he sounded really nonchalant about all the danger he faces every day. It would be terrifying as well as thrilling to be in his position, but I'd much rather stick with Marisol Bello's job and avoid encounters with dangerous criminals.

  4. Good comments. Michelle, I agree. I too would rather do a job less dangerous. Although, Marisol Bello's job could become dangerous. For example, she has to deal with natural disasters.

  5. True, Brooke, they are both dangerous. But I find there is something humbling about storms and nature. I think I'd be able to deal with natural disasters better than human violence.

  6. I am one of those people that is like terrified of everything lol, so I would have to say that I would never be able to do Justin's job. Like Michelle said, I think I would like to stick to a job like Marisol's where I would be able to travel and cover such powerful stories like those of hurricanes.

I really enjoyed Justin's speech and I thought it was very interesting about how much his job entails. Even though he may not think he is a great writer, I read some of his stories and they really captured my attention and kept me intrigued. I will definitely keep searching for and reading his stories.

  7. I liked the presentation today. That job seems really interesting. It's almost like he's living the lives of the people we see on television in those crime dramas.

It would be pretty cool to have his job and be so involved with the police in solving and covering criminal investigations.

  8. I think Justin Fenton's job is very interesting, just not for me. I'm not all into the crime investigating thing. I think it's because most of it is depressing.

Overall, I think our last interview session was unfortunately fairly poor. I don't know why I didn't go into detail with any questions; maybe its because I kept trying to think of what to write about Mr. Fenton for our feature story..

Does anybody else feel like our questioning was somewhat dry today? Maybe we can make up for it with a good final discussion tomorrow.
